This role will lead the strategic capacity and capability footprint for the global NorylTM business to meet the differentiated growth aspirations of the business and the Specialties SBU. The scope includes existing SABIC manufacturing plants (chemical operations and compounding) as well as external/outsourced capacity and capability (including strategic tolling, partnerships and ventures). The role will lead the creation of capabilities & technologies to execute the strategy and have overall ownership for the implementation of the strategy by working with cross-functional stakeholders across business management, T&I, supply chain, commercial, procurement and manufacturing.

The role will have business authority for all strategic capital (including CAPEX) for the NorylTM business and lead operating mechanisms to deliver the business goals. The role is also responsible for global industry capacity intelligence, and creating and implementing a competitive strategy for the NorylTM Business. The overall goal is to create a value chain for optimal customer experience, whilst optimizing the global NorylTM strategic competitiveness, capability and system value.

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree, with preference for a Masters or higher (Technical degree required)
  • Technical understanding of Engineering Thermoplastics
  • Minimum10 years of working experience in strategic capacity management, global project management and manufacturing related roles.
  • Willing to travel 10-20% of the time, including to intercontinental locations.

Strategy Development & Implementation

  • Develop the NorylTM global capacity and capability footprint and customer fulfillment strategy with business managers, and collaborate with manufacturing, SCM, Procurement, Commercial and T&I to develop an ideal portfolio of capacity and capability projects.
  • Ensure a robust strategic value chain solution across raw materials, intermediates, resins and compounds as well as supply chain business models: strategies include both internal and external sources.
  • Prioritize and implement the portfolio of asset driven projects to develop long-term capacity and capability with a competitive capital and cost structure.
  • Develops options for new product needs and launches.
  • Optimize and balance discretionary resources & investments of the business across new and existing capacity footprints across process technology, product and customer qualification, yield, reliability and quality processes, etc.

Lead Specialties Accolade & broader SABIC Capacity related Processes

  • Lead the Accolade Process and Portfolio Review Committee Tollgates with stakeholders, and co-lead other asset/capacity related mechanisms (including with corporate manufacturing) to ensure cross functional alignment of objectives, status and actions for successful deployment of the strategy.
  • Responsible for achieving timely milestones of all NorylTM capacity projects.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving all strategic capital (including CAPEX) plan and spend.
  • Set up and maintain a stable tracking mechanism with stakeholders (e.g. corporate finance, E&BS and manufacturing) to ensure a comprehensive overview of all NorylTM capital and CAPEX spend across regular maintenance, TCO, EHSS, strategic and any other investments & capital commitments.
  • Develop the NorylTM Global Asset Development Plan (ADP), with integration into the SBU Manufacturing Strategic Plan (MSP).

Technology and Business Development

  • Engage in M&A, business development, alliances and JV activities related to both existing and future asset/capacity needs of the business.
  • Responsible for developing and evaluating backward and forward integration and strategic external partnerships to drive flexibility and create new business fulfillment models.
  • New capabilities/alliances to pilot/evaluate multiple technology options (internal vs. external options).

Others

  • Develop and maintain the industry competitive capacity & capability landscape.
  • Responsible to understand all key elements of the industry player’s competitive capacity strategy including value chain, technology, capacity, production, quality, etc.
  • Devise competitive landscape scenarios and NorylTM strategic options to ensure a proactive and timely approach towards achieving an effective global competitive position.
  • Partner with the NorylTM Business Leader and Team for all other strategic and operational requirements to deliver the business operational and strategic plan.
