The Process and Energy Management (P&EM) department is part of SABIC Corporate Manufacturing and is a global organization that supports the production affiliates and sites in their journey to Manufacturing Excellence by providing leadership and counselling in common themes with key impact on plant performance. As part of P&EM, the 7 experts of the Polymer Process team provide operational excellence support globally to more than 40 PE, PP and PC plants. Within the team, new roles have been defined to ensure sufficient resources to roll out the SABIC manufacturing strategy. One of the new roles is the Polypropylene Process Expert.

Functieomschrijving (inclusief taken en verantwoordelijkheden)

Sabic currently operates 10 PP plants using different technologies in KSA and Europe and is investing in additional capacity globally. The role holder will provide operational excellence and process expertise relevant to Polypropylene slurry and gas phase technologies in order to achieve best in class performance in the areas of Capacity Utilization, Production throughput, Quality rate, Reliability, Variable Cost and Energy efficiency for all SABIC operated PP lines globally. This will be achieved through;

  • Functional ownership and global expert network leadership
  • Sharing technical and operational knowledge and expertise
  • Development and deployment of Best Practices and Manufacturing Standards
     


Responsibilities

  • Conduct required studies to achieve higher potential for polypropylene plants.
  • Lead the Polypropylene Expert Groups. Work with various Polypropylene Expert Teams and Affiliates to achieve best quartile.
  • Develop Best Practices and Manufacturing Standards that improves polypropylene plant performance globally.
  • Develop polypropylene plant performance KPIs and work with affiliates and plants to track the performance globally and develop improvement recommendations.
  • Work with Expert Groups to develop strategic alliance with licensor/OEMs for technological strength, handling complexity and Operational Excellence.
  • Participate in benchmarking activities in the areas of Polypropylene and set performance improvement recommendations. Work with affiliates and plants to develop, check and qualify gap closing actions.
  • Support all networking activities emerging from the Polypropylene Expert Group and Manufacturing Process Support.
  • Resolve Global Polypropylene related Performance Killers and SABIC level chronic issues.
  • Provide technical and process expertise to support emergency cases and burning platforms.
  • Disseminate knowledge and expertise to affiliates personnel through training, troubleshooting and various networking activities.
  • Participate in complex RCAs in Polypropylene area in specific and process area in general.
  • Provide technical and operational support in Cold Eye reviews, reliability in design, commissioning, due diligence and performance test
  • Provide Corp. MFG technical expert experience for initial assessments for Strategic SBU projects such as green field Mega Projects and Debottlenecking projects
  • Provide Technical and operational support during licensing-out of SABIC-owned Technology.
  • Provide Technical and operational support to Technology department in the development and deployment of new product, grade or catalyst as required


As part of the supported assets are located in the KSA, the candidate is required to travel regularly and spend up to 20% of the time in the KSA.
Working location can be any Petchem/Corp Mfg related office/site in Europe. (NL (Geleen/Sittard, Bergen Op Zoom), BE (Genk), DE (Gelsenkirchen), UK (Teesside), ES (Cartagena)). We are open to consider whether part of the work can be done from a home office.

Profiel van geschikte kandidaat

  • BS, Msc or PhD in Chemical Engineering
  • 15 years of experience in polyolefin manufacturing with several years of polypropylene operations and/or process technical support.
  • Experience in more than one technology (gas phase, slurry) will be an advantage.
  • Conducted several studies on the capabilities of polypropylene plants in relation to capacity utilization, new functions and/or products.
  • Knowledge of polypropylene technology and operational limitations as well as evolving technologies
  • Participated in RCAs and HAZOP reviews and qualified in both (or willing to qualify on short notice)
  • Involved in grade development, introduction and optimization.
  • Qualified in the use of different polymer software for overall plant simulation tools (or willing to qualify on short notice)
  • Qualified in the use of statistical software or knowledge (or willing to qualify on short notice)
  • Leading through vision and values and fully demonstrates SABIC values.
  • Advanced leadership and influencing skills to lead experts in a matrix environment
  • Good presentation skills to audience of different levels (from engineers to VP/EVP)
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Excellent team member behavior
